Finally.. BN accepts Ahmad Said as Terengganu MB

Umno polls will be held Dec 16-20

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said that Barisan Nasional has expressed its support for the appointment of Kijal assemblyman Datuk Ahmad Said as Terengganu Mentri Besar.

Abdullah said this at a press conference after the Umno supreme council meeting Thursday afternoon.

Abdullah, who is also Umno president, said that he believes the Terengganu assemblymen will support Ahmad.

On Wednesday morning Abdullah had an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin over the MB issue.

The Umno supreme council meeting also decided that party elections will not be postponed to next year. The party decided that polls will be held Dec 16-20 which is also when the party’s annual general assembly will take place.
